Poinsettia Gongbi Painting Class with Victoria — Last Class of 2025

Inspired by a poinsettia masterpiece from Yu Zhizhen 俞致貞 (1915–1995)—the renowned female Gongbi master.

Bright winter reds, poised lines, holiday sparkle. We’ll compose a graceful spray of poinsettia in classic Gongbi: refined contour, luminous layers, elegant spacing. The poinsettia—dramatic red bracts surrounding tiny yellow-green cyathia—perfectly suits Gongbi’s clarity and glow. To celebrate the season, we’ll also inscribe “Merry Christmas!” in Chinese calligraphy.

Supplies 

• Non-absorbent sized Xuan paper: 2 sheets, 13.5" × 9" each. Cicada-wing sized Xuan recommended for sharp lines and easy tracing.

• Brushes:

  • Fine liner (e.g., BHA liner) or a Seven-Wolf-Three-Sheep combo brush.

  • Set of three Essentials: one soft-hair brush for water, one stiffer brush for color, and a small detail brush.

• Color & ink: Marie’s 12-color tubes; Liquid sumi ink.

• Optional: A4 LED light box for tracing.
